Protocols

Printer Driver

This refers to a program that is used to convert data into a format that is specific to the target printer

Print Server

A system with a local printer configured on it that makes the printer available to other systems on a network.

Print queue

The setup and configuration of a printer
Print queue contains a line-up of print requests that are scheduled to print on a printer.

Proxy Server

It’s a server which emulates as a web server

Profile

This refers to the user state environment. Contains personal settings of the user For example Documents and settings, desktop settings, start menu icons, shortcuts, internet settings, favourites etc. Types of profile – local, roaming, mandatory

Print Job

Refers to the files to be printed

PDC Emulator

Processes all password updates for clients not running active directory. It receives immediate updates from other domain controllers when a user’s password is changed. It synchronizes time between the domain controllers

Perimeter Network

A network that is separated from the internal network and the internet. Perimeter network is also called as DMZ (de-militarized zone)

Permissions

Define the type of access granted to a user group or computer to access resource objects. Can also be applied to resources objects such as files, folders and printers.  Permissions can be assigned to users and groups to active directory or on a local computer.
